We could not provide this amazing program without the assistance of both 2-legged and 4-legged volunteers. Dog owners and handlers experienced in agility teach the students to navigate the agility courses. They share in the success of their students, meet the challenge of new experiences and certainly feel they make a difference in someone’s life.
The dogs used in Agility Angels are described as “Bomb-Proof”. They have a temperament that allows them to deal with “anything” that happens around them.
Why do our volunteers do this?
Here are some of the reasons,
in their own words:
I love to volunteer because I care about helping others and love working with the dogs. It’s a great experience to meet other people and help make a difference in the community. — Mikey, a volunteer worker from Anthony Wayne school
I had no idea how much Agility Angels would impact my life. The dogs, the children, and the parents are so important in this wonderful world of Agility Angels… Being a volunteer is an absolute honor. — Greg, a volunteer coach
This program is the most rewarding volunteer work that I’ve ever done. I get to combine my love of dogs, my love of agility, and my desire to make a difference in children’s lives. And then there’s the sheer joy in seeing the smiles on faces of not only the kids, but also the parents. — Joan, a volunteer coach
